Päritolu ja ajalugu

La catedral de Nidaros, en Trondheim, es el monumento gótico más importante de Noruega (1070–1300) y fue el gran lugar de peregrinación del norte de Europa en la Edad Media, erigido sobre la tumba de san Olav. Aunque dedicada a san Olav, su gran rosetón norte está presidido por la Virgen con el Niño, signo mariano del templo, testimonio de la devoción a María en la Noruega anterior a la Reforma.
