Adoration of Christ truly present in the Eucharist, with the Holy Hour that accompanies the agony of the Lord, born to the heat of the revelations of the Sacred Heart.
Documented history and memory received
The worship of Christ present in the Most Holy is ancient practice (exhibition, Forty Hours, visits to the Sagrarian). The "Holy Hour" was linked to the revelations of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary in Paray--le-Monial (1673-1675): the first apparition, on December 27, 1673, was in worship before the Most Holy. In this context Jesus asked him to watch with him an hour on the nights of Thursday to Friday, in memory of his agony in Gethsemane; hence the Holy Hour, associated with Holy Thursday. Santa Margarita María was canonized in 1920. The spread of this devotion promoted modern Eucharistic worship and the chapels of perpetual worship.
Who venerates the memory
The look is directed to Jesus Christ and to the mystery of his Incarnation, Passion, Death, Resurrection or Reign. The image, relic, monument or custom does not act by its own power: it serves the memory of the Gospel and leads to prayer, sacraments, conversion and charity.
History, tradition and discernment
Eucharistic worship is recommended and regulated by the Church; the Holy Hour is pious exercise, not sacrament. The tab retains the memory received without turning legend, witness or believing interpretation into a historically demonstrated fact.
Celebration and devotional life
Festivity or main time: without own liturgical date documented in the main source.
No automatic guarantee of protection, healing, salvation or favor is documented. Christian practice requires faith, conversion, sacraments and charity; no object acts as an amulet.
