Marian Anecdotes of Vietnam
The Virgin in the country of the Dragon
Vietnam has one of the most emotional Marian traditions in Asia. The stories of the Virgin of La Vang and other advocacy have been transmitted from generation to generation, being a witness of faith in times of persecution.
Main data

The apparition of The Vang
In 1798, during an anti-atomic persecution, many faithful took refuge in the La Vang forest in the province of Quő ng Trħ. As they prayed the Rosary every night at the foot of a tree, they saw a woman appear dressed in a coat (traditional Vietnamese suit) holding a child in his arms, with two angels next to him. The Virgin told them to take leaves from the trees to make a medicine that would cure their diseases. Since then, The Vang is the most important Marian sanctuary in Vietnam.
The Virgin who cries in Saigon
A family of Catholic Saigon tells us that during the war, his house was bombed. As they looked among the rubble, they found the image of the Virgin intact, surrounded by broken crystals but without a scratch. The mother of the family said that the Virgin had protected her children during the bombing. Today, that image is in a church of Saigon and the faithful will pray before it.
The Virgin of the Peace of Hureza
In the imperial city of Huğ, Catholics say that during the Vietnam War, a Catholic soldier had a small image of the Virgin in his pocket. A bullet hit him in the chest, but the image stopped the bullet and the soldier survived. Since then, that soldier became a priest and built a church in honor of the Virgin of Peace.
The Virgin of the Way
On the roads of Vietnam, truckers and travelers carry images of the Virgin in their vehicles. They tell stories of avoided accidents, of storms that calm down when they pray the Rosary, and of mysterious lights that guide their steps at night.
The Virgin and the children of Hureza
