Knock apparitions
Knock, Ireland
Fifteen people saw a silent apparition in 1879.
On August 21, 1879, fifteen people from an Irish village, on the wall of the church, saw the Virgin Mary next to St. Joseph, St. John and the Lamb of God for two hours.
This apparition is unique because There were no words. It was a silent, contemplative apparition. The witnesses described a bright light that emanated from the figures.
Knock became one of the most important Marian shrines in Ireland. Pope John Paul II visited the sanctuary in 1979.
