The Cathedral of Echmiadzin, built in 303, is one of the oldest churches in the world. It was built according to the vision of the Saint Gregory Illuminating, who saw the Virgin coming down from heaven with a golden hammer to point out the place.
The Armenian pilgrims come here to venerate the relic of St. Gregory's right arm and pray before the main altar.
Echmiadzin is where the sky touched the land of Armenia.
