The Virgin of Coromoto was brought from Venezuela and took root in the Cauca Valley.
Venezuelan migrants who arrived in Colombia brought with them the devotion to Our Lady of Coromoto. In Cali and the Valle del Cauca region, there are churches dedicated to this devotion.
Tradition holds that Our Lady of Coromoto protects Colombians and Venezuelans living in the Cauca Valley. The faithful pray to her for peace between the two nations.
Every December 8th, Venezuelans in Cali celebrate the Coromoto festival with processions and music.
