"Holy Mary raised to Heaven"
The directory of the Episcopal Conference of Korea records as a patron Venues, expression that can be literally translated as "Holy Mary received or raised to Heaven." It corresponds to the mystery known in Spanish as the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
The Assumption does not mean that Mary ascends by her own power. The Catholic faith confesses that, after his earthly life, he was brought by God in body and soul to heavenly glory.
A parish born with the new city
Gwanggyo was developed as an urban core between Suwon and Yongin. The parish was erected on 28 August 2012 to serve the Catholic community in the Gwanggyo 1-dong sector.
During his early years, parish life preceded the final building. The construction of the new temple began in February 2019 and ended in October 2020, according to information published by the Korean Catholic press.
Recognized architecture in Suwon
In 2021 the building received the Suwon Grand Prix for Design in the architecture category. It was the only distinguished religious building in that edition.
Civil recognition values the building, but its deepest sense comes from the community that inhabits it: a place of Eucharist, reconciliation, formation and service in the midst of an intensely urban environment.
The hope inscribed in the Assumption
The dogma of the Assumption was solemnly defined by Pius XII in 1950, although the celebration and faith of the Church are much older. In Mary glorified, the destiny to which God calls redeemed humanity is previewed.
This hope does not turn away from everyday life. On the contrary, it affirms the dignity of the body, consoles with death and encourages the care of creation, the sick and any person whose dignity is threatened.
A different vocation from other Gwanggyo titles
The complete identification "Gwanggyo 1-dong" is necessary. In the area there are other parishes, including Gwanggyo 2-dong, with self-patronage. This tab and its marker belong exclusively to the temple of Hyeryeong-ro 13.

It's an active parish church. The hours should be consulted in advance, visits should be avoided during private celebrations and the silence of the temple should be respected.
The visit can be accompanied by Revelation 12: 1-6, the Magnificat and the glorious mysteries of the Rosary. The very feast of the Assumption is held on August 15.
