A parish founded in 2008
Baebang was erected as parish 23 January 2008. Its birth accompanies the residential growth and transformation of the Asan area.
A young community needs to create memory, links and spaces where different generations can be recognized. The Assumption proposes a common horizon that does not depend on the age of the building.
The mystery of the Assumption
The Church teaches that Mary, after her earthly life, was brought in body and soul to heavenly glory. Pius XII solemnly defined this truth in 1950.
Mary does not reach glory by a force of her own or take the place of God. His Assumption is the fruit of the Paschal grace and victory of Jesus Christ.
A promise that includes the body
The Christian faith awaits the resurrection of the whole person. The body is not an expendable object: it is part of our identity, relationships and history.
Contemplating glorified Mary forces the recognition of the dignity of the sick, aged, disabled or exhausted bodies by work.
Hope for the duel
The Assumption does not eliminate the pain of losing someone. Death breaks a loved presence and duel needs time, listen and company.
Mary is a sign that death does not have the last word. This hope can be sustained without denying tears or offering easy explanations.
Growing up unruled
Expanding areas can improve opportunities and services, but also leave older people, low-income families or people without networks behind.
The parish lives its patronage when urban growth is accompanied by hospitality, accessibility and care for those at risk of being invisible.
A community between generations
The newcomers bring new stories; those who have been keeping the memory of the place longer. Communion does not require such differences to be erased.
Mary helps to receive life as a gift and to transmit faith without imposing it, through witness, patience and service.
The party of August 15
The Church celebrates the Assumption on August 15. In Korea, the date also coincides with Liberation Day, a closeness of calendars that invites us to pray for a freedom lived with responsibility.
This coincidence should not be confused with the historical motive of Baebang's dedication, which the episcopal source does not explain. It allows, however, to legitimately unite liturgical prayer for hope with civic prayer for peace.
Hope for the Korean peninsula
Mary's glory announces that no faithful life is forgotten by God. From Asan you can pray for those who died in the division, for separated families and for those who live without freedom.
Reconciliation needs memory, dignity and patience. Christian hope supports this work without making it a political slogan.

The fourth glorious mystery can be prayed for the sick, the elderly and the mourning families; another ten can be offered by those who arrive in a new neighborhood and for the peace of Korea. The hours should be confirmed before they come.
Baebang is a parish dedicated to the Assumption, not a place of apparitions. The visit must respect the cult and life of the community.
