Marian devotion
The parish of Sinbaek-dong, in Jecheon, is dedicated to Heart of Mary. Its temple was built in the early 21st century to accompany the growth of a residential area and to offer an accessible space of veneration and community.

An officially confirmed dedication
The Episcopal Conference of Korea records the Heart of Mary as the patronage of Sinbaek-dong. The very directory of the diocese of Wonju confirms the same title, address and telephone.
The Korean form literally means "Heart of the Mother of God." In Spanish, the Heart of Mary is maintained and its relationship with devotion to the Immaculate Heart is explained.
A community for a growing area
The cultural history of Jecheon relates the creation of the parish to the increase in population, new homes, shops and equipment in the Sinbaek area.
The new community brought the sacramental life closer to a neighborhood that had grown beyond the pastoral capacity of the existing parishes.
The building of the temple
The work began in April 2002 and lasted one year and seven months. The set, three floors on an underground level, brought together church, offices, priestly housing and community spaces.
The dedication was presided over by Bishop Ji Hak-sun on 12 February 2004. The directory adopts the same date as a parish establishment.
Accessibility from the project
The chronicle of dedication points out that the building incorporated elevator for faithful with mobility difficulties. It is a significant fact because accessibility was considered since construction.
