Marian devotion
On the slopes of Yeongdo, opposite the port of Busan, the Catholic parish of Sinseon is entrusted to Heart of Mary. His patronage invites him to contemplate the interior of the Mother of Jesus: a heart that listens, preserves the Word and opens to the needs of others.

Documented patronage
The directory of the Korean Episcopal Conference expressly records Sex Mole, "Heart of Mary," as patron of the parish of Sinseon. The official document also provides the date of foundation, the address, the telephone and the religious community present.
The Korean name does not include in this document the adjective "immaculate." In Spanish, the official literal translation is preserved, although the Catholic spirituality of the Heart of Mary is closely linked to the traditional expression "Immaculate Heart."
A parish born in 1955
The official foundation is located 1 January 1955, a few years after the Korean war. This context allows us to understand the antiquity of this Catholic presence within the modern development of Yeongdo.
The page does not attribute to the parish specific episodes of the war that are not accredited by a sufficiently clear institutional source. The date and the parish continuity are supported by the episcopal directory.
In the heart of Yeongdo
Yeongdo is an urban island linked to the centre of Busan and historically marked by the port, the slopes and densely inhabited neighborhoods. Sinseon is found in this daily fabric, not in an isolated enclosure.
The advocation here acquires a concrete expression: to listen to the life of the neighborhood, to stay with the families and to turn the parish spaces into places of encounter and care.
Un presbyterio revamped
The diocese of Busan reported the blessing of the renewed altar 17 June 2018, after works developed for three months. This data documents a real and dated liturgical intervention.
The altar is not just an architectural element. In the Catholic liturgy he represents Christ and brings together the community around the Eucharist, a source of charity that must then go out into the neighborhood.
Space shared with the neighbors
In March 2023, a local information document documented an agreement by which the parish gave free 52 square metres for community initiatives in the neighborhood.
The project included a shared laundry and fridge, as well as an elderly-oriented coffee. The source describes a concrete cooperation agreement; it is not assumed here that all these services will remain unchanged today.

A heart that keeps the Word
The Gospel presents Mary by keeping and meditating on events in her heart. It is not a closed interiority, but a believing memory capable of even accepting that which is not yet fully understood.
Marian devotion calls for the cultivation of silence, discernment and fidelity. Before acting, Mary listens; when she understands the call, she is on her way.
The heart crossed
Simeon announces that a sword will pass through Mary's soul. His heart knows pain, but does not harden or leave Jesus at the foot of the cross.
That is why this invocation accompanies in a particular way those who suffer loss, disease, displacement or solitude. Mary does not magically eliminate pain: she teaches to remain with love and hope.
Signo de la Iglesia orante
Paul VI explained that devotion to the Heart of Mary leads to imitating his virtues and his union with Christ. It is not an autonomous or sentimental cult, but a school of evangelical faith.
In Sinseon, this inner dimension can be read next to the Community's opening: contemplation and service do not compete, but are needed for each other.
The Korean Martyrs Sisters
The episcopal record points to the presence of the Sisters of the Korean Martyrs. The data links the parish to a religious tradition born from the memory of those who testified to the faith in Korea.
Concrete tasks are not attributed to religious without a current source. His documented presence is sufficient to remember the relationship between consecrated life, martyrdom and ecclesial service.
