Marian devotion
La parroquia de Namchon-dongin Incheon, is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. In building its church, the community wanted the enclosure not to be closed on itself and created an extensive Marian garden for the rest of the neighbors.

A parish of the beginning of the 21st century
Namchon-dong was erected in January 2001 to serve the Catholic community in this area of Namdong-gu. The episcopal directory retains both the date and the traditional patronal title, Smoking.
The expression means the conception of Mary without a stain of original sin. It is an ancient and precise way to name the Immaculate Conception in Korean.
A temple accompanied by a park
The current building was dedicated on September 7, 2005 by Bishop Boniface Choi Ki- san. It has a main church, a small chapel and community spaces distributed over three floors and an underground level.
The work was conceived next to a Marian garden of about 4,300 square meters. It was equipped with trees, grass, altar for outdoor celebrations and places for rest and sport.
A church open to its neighbours
The parish explained that it wanted to serve the local community and be an open church. This is why the park was also available to those who do not belong to the parish.
The faithful held the cost of the temple and the garden without the use of other parishes. The Marian advocation thus translated into a concrete form of urban hospitality.
What the Immaculate Conception Celebrates
The Church confesses that Mary was preserved from original sin from the first moment of her conception by a unique grace of God, in attention to the merits of Jesus Christ.
It is not the virginal conception of Jesus. He speaks of the beginning of Mary's life and shows that salvation is first God's gift, then received with freedom and fidelity.
Purity that becomes welcome
The purity of Mary is not to depart from others. His undivided heart allows him to receive the word of God, to come to the service of Elizabeth and to remain with those who need comfort.
The garden of Namchon-dong offers a pastoral image of that truth: a Marian space is truly faithful to its name when it helps to rest, meet and feel welcomed.
