A verified parish advocation
The Korean episcopal record identifies as the patron of Ujeon a Unbelievable, literally the Virgin conceived without original sin. It is the Korean catechetic formulation of the title of the Immaculate Conception.
There is no local Marian apparition or an image officially recognized as miraculous. The invocation comes from the stable dedication of the parish and not from a private revelation.
What the Immaculate Conception teaches
The Church teaches that Mary was preserved from original sin from the first moment of her existence, in anticipation of the merits of Jesus Christ. She is also redeemed by Christ, but in a unique and preventive way.
That is why this mystery does not separate Mary from the Saviour or make her a divinity. It shows the strength of God's grace and anticipates what that grace wants to do in every person reconciled with Him.
It fills it with grace
The angel's greeting - "Rejoice, full of grace" - illuminates Mary's vocation. His holiness is a gift received and a free answer: he hears the Word, trusts and gives himself to God's project.
Devotion to the Immaculate is not to admire a distant purity. He invites Christ to heal the heart, to reject sin and to begin again through conversion and the sacraments.
On 8 December
The Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of 8 Decemberduring the Advent. Mary appears as well as the woman prepared by God to welcome the Redeemer.
This universal liturgical date is not Ujeon's founding date. The parish was erected on 28 January 1988 and celebrates its patronage within the ordinary life of the diocesan Church.
Birth from Hyoja-dong
Ujeon was founded on 28 January 1988 from the parish of Hyoja-dong. The official data places its birth in an urban area of Jeonju that was developing new communities.
Thirty years later, in September 2018, Bishop John Kim Son@-@ tae presided over a commemorative mass and thanked the work of priests and faithful who had sustained their growth.
A parish that became a mother
The diocesan chronicle of the thirtieth anniversary states that from Ujeon the parishes of Urim y Hyoja 4-dong. The community born of Hyoja-dong thus came to give birth to others.
This historical filiation does not automatically attribute the same patronage to the new parishes. Each must be independently verified and documented before receiving a page and a marker.
Thirty years celebrated serving
The 2018 commemoration was not limited to festive events. The diocese mentioned a pilgrimage for peace in the demilitarized zone, a youth scholarship project, medical volunteering abroad and a family meeting.
These initiatives show a concrete way to honor the Immaculate One: to respond to grace through peace, formation, health care and communion between generations.
The Scripture copied by hand
In 2010, during Lent, 71 members of the parish copied by hand the Gospel, the letters and the Revelation of St. John. They took part from children to a 90-year-old.
The chronicle includes marriages, mothers and daughters and people who worked with English texts. Scripture offers the framework that keeps Marian devotion united to Christ and the faith of the Church.
Prayer for the deceased and community
In November 2018, about three hundred people from fifteen parish sectors participated in a traditional prayer day for the deceased. The preparation also served to learn how to properly accompany families in mourning.
Remembering the deceased does not feed superstitions: it expresses Christian hope in the resurrection and solidarity with those suffering a loss.
Conceal each persona
A chronicle of first communion recounts the constant participation of a child with hearing disabilities, accompanied by his mother and treated in writing in the sacramental preparation.
The fact recalls that a community under the patronage of the Immaculate is called to remove barriers, adapt its accompaniment and recognize the dignity of each baptized.
The current community
The consulted episcopal directory records 4,193 faithful, three priests, a community of Sisters of the Charity of Jesus and no dependent missionary station.
The official phone is 063-221-3711. Responsible, figures and schedules may vary; they should be confirmed with the parish before they go.
