The Heart of Mary in Gwangcheon
La Conferencia Episcopal de Corea registers como patronazgo oficial Sex Mole, "Heart of the Mother of God" or "Heart of Mary." In Catholic tradition this title is usually expressed as Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The heart, in the biblical language, means the center of the person: memory, will, intelligence and love. To contemplate Mary's Heart is to contemplate her listening to the Word, her giving to God and her compassion by the cross.
The foundation and construction of the temple
The parish was founded on July 12, 1968. Six years later the construction of a new church was completed, consecrated in October 1974 in a celebration presided over by the bishop of Daejeon and accompanied by many faithful.
The contemporary chronicle points to the shared effort between the diocese and the local community to finance the building. The temple is therefore a material witness to a common responsibility.
A community attentive to its elders
In 2015, the diocese documented in Gwangcheon a biblical school aimed especially at the elderly. The initiative combined weekly mass, the teaching of Scripture and shared dialogue.
