Marian devotion
The parish of Geoje will venerate Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. Fundada el 15 June 1935, is one of the historical Marian communities of the island and today belongs to the diocese of Masan.

The Korean title
The episcopal directory uses About Us: literally, "Queen of heaven and earth." The translation retains the two fields of the title and avoids reducing it to the close, but not identical, title of Queen of Heaven.
Mary receives this dignity for her unique relationship with Jesus Christ, King of the universe, and for her obedient cooperation in the work of salvation. His royalty is maternal and servant, never independent of God.
A community prior to the division of Korea
The official date of 1935 places the foundation during the Japanese colonial period and before the division of the peninsula. This chronological context is well established; the open sources consulted do not allow the founders to be attributed concrete political intentions.
The community continued its life after the war. A diocesan history recalls the presence of Franciscan missionaries in Geoje in 1956, within the evangelizing effort of the region.
The Temple of 1957
The inventory of architectural assets of Gyeongsang del Sur records the church of Geoje in Dongsang-ri and dates the building in 1957. This data refers to the catalogued property, not to the parish foundation of 1935.
Distinguishing both milestones allows a proper understanding of an older community than its present historical temple.
Mary, Queen who serves
Pius XII explained the royalty of Mary from her divine motherhood and her union with the redeeming work of Christ. Tradition does not present a worldly sovereignty, but the exaltation of who was called the slave of the Lord.
Devotion becomes concrete when it leads to humility, the protection of the little ones and fidelity to the Gospel.

It is an active parish and a building of historical interest. It is appropriate to consult current hours, respect the cult and apply for permission before documenting spaces or people.
