In Geojin, coastal town of the border county of Goseong, the Catholic community venerates Mary as Queen of Victory. The parish was founded 1 September 1976 and belongs to the diocese of Chuncheon.

The Korean Episcopal Conference records the title After Win, literally "Queen of Victory," along with the date and parish direction. It is not an inferred translation only of the name of the temple.
The Christian tradition understands Mary's victory as a participation in Christ's victory over sin and death. It does not hold military rule or national superiority.
The Rosary and the title of Victory
The title is historically related to thanksgiving and the Church's confidence in the prayer of the Rosary. The liturgical tradition then became special to Our Lady of the Rosary.
Leo XIII presented the Rosary as a perseverant prayer that contemplates the mysteries of Christ with Mary. The Christian effectiveness of prayer is not exempt from working for justice and reconciliation.
A parish near the border
Geojin is located in the north of Gangwon province, south of the demilitarized zone. This geographical situation makes especially significant the prayer for peace and divided families, without attributing to the parish foundation specific motivations that sources do not explain.
The diocese documents Geojin's participation in youth pilgrimages and the existence, next to the temple, of the Emmaus training house, opened in 2009 with approximately two hundred people.
The victory of reconciliation
In a territory marked by division, the title calls for a victory other than the defeat of the adversary: the victory of truth, mercy and a peace that protects people.
This reading does not erase suffering or relativize injustice. Christian reconciliation needs memory, responsibility and care for the victims.
