A patronazgo oficial and inequívoco

The Episcopal Conference of Korea and the parish itself record Sophia Lynn, the birth of Mary, as patronage of Jeongbalsan. The founding date, before the liturgical feast, reinforces this identity.

It is not a Marian apparition or a documented miraculous image. It is a parochial dedication to a mystery celebrated by the whole Church.

Precision: Jeongbalsan is neither a sanctuary nor a place of apparition. It is a parish dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.

What the Church celebrates on September 8

The liturgy celebrates the birth of Mary nine months after the solemnity of her Immaculate Conception. It does not yet celebrate the birth of Jesus, but the coming to the world of who will be his mother.

The feast contemplates a humble beginning within the plan of the Incarnation. Mary receives everything from God and guides to Christ.

The aurora before the sun

St. John Paul II described Mary a girl as "aurora" of Redemption. The image does not confuse Mary with the definitive light: the aurora announces the sun, which is Christ.

This relationship allows us to understand the Christological sense of advocation. The joy for the birth of Mary is joy for the closeness of the Saviour.

What we know and what we don't know

The Canon Gospels do not narrate the birth of Mary or offer the names of her parents. Tradition calls them Joaquin and Anne from ancient Christian texts not included in the Bible.

Therefore, a responsible exposure distinguishes the liturgical and theological core from the details from apocryphal accounts. These may have influenced art and piety without acquiring proven chronic value.

Mary child and the dignity of all children

Contemplating the newly born Mary invites to look at each child as a life with dignity and future, not as the property or instrument of adults.

The parish dedicated to this party is called to protect minors, apply protocols, form responsible and hear any signs of damage without cover.

Foundation on 7 September 2000

Jeongbalsan was erected on 7 September 2000. The first parish priest arrived on the same day and the community immediately began to use the temple.

The foundation did not leave a small group: it received from Juyop-dong around 4.669 fieles, reflecting Ilsan's rapid growth.

A parish born by division

When an urban area grows, a single parish can be too extensive to accompany people well. The creation of Jeongbalsan brought liturgy, catechesis and pastoral care to new neighborhoods.

The separation did not break the previous story. The faithful carried with them links, experience and responsibilities learned in Juyop-dong.

A new division in 2001

Only ten months later, in July 2001, three sectors and some 965 faithful passed to the new parish of Hugok.

This change so early shows the speed with which the planned city evolved. The pastoral structure had to be adapted before it stabilized.

Growing up also means letting go

The creation of a daughter parish may feel like a loss of people and resources. However, it allows other communities to develop closeness and co-responsibility.

Mary, whose birth opens a new story, helps to understand that fertility is not to retain, but to allow life to grow.

The arrival of the auxiliary ministry

In December 2002, the first assistant priest was incorporated. The community needed adequate attention to its size and activity.

Over the years, parish priests, vicars and forms of pastoral collaboration took place. People change, as mission and shared memory continue.

From the archbishopric of Seoul to Uijeongbu

Jeongbalsan was born within the archdiocese of Seoul. On 24 June 2004, when the diocese of Uijeongbu was erected, it became part of the new jurisdiction.

The change was canonical and pastoral, not geographical. The temple continued in the same place, but integrated into a diocese created to better care for the north of Gyeonggi.

A community of 12 areas

The parish history describes twelve areas and dozens of small neighborhood groups. In 2019 there were 1,949 households and 4,813 faithful; other updates have set the figure at around 4,200.

The statistical variations reflect dates and population movements. They should not be presented as a contradiction without considering the year of each registration.

The human scale within a large parish

More than four thousand registered may become an anonymous figure. Areas, groups and equipment allow for needs and responsibilities to be shared.

The structure is useful if it is kept open, protects privacy and does not exclude those who have just arrived or participate irregular.

The presence of the Korean Martyrs Sisters

The episcopal directory records the collaboration of the Sisters of the Korean Martyrs. His presence links contemporary parish life with the memory of those who held the faith in times of persecution.

The memory of martyrs is not a cult of suffering. It is a commitment to a free conscience, a coherent faith and human dignity.

Ilsan, a planned city

Ilsan developed as one of the new cities in the Seoul metropolitan area. Large residential sets, avenues, parks and transport attracted many families since the 1990s.

Jeongbalsan emerged within this transformation. The parish offered community continuity to people who premiered housing and neighborhood.

The district of Jeongbalsan

The name is related to the forest elevation of Jeongbalsan, today a recognizable green space of Ilsan. The church is located north-east of the mountain, on Ilsan@-@ ro.

It should not be confused with the Jeongbalsan Metro Station, located further south, near the great commercial and cultural equipment.

Born in a new city

The invocation of the Nativity is particularly significant in an area built to begin new stages. Many families arrived with young children, new jobs and still fragile networks.

The parish could help turn residential proximity into relationships, without replacing the civil plurality of the neighborhood.

The party as a school of hope

The birth of a person contains promise, but does not guarantee a life without evidence. Mary will know poverty, displacement, misunderstanding and the cross.

Christian hope does not deny those risks. He claims that God can act in fragility and asks to care for the conditions that allow to grow.

Mary and the mothers

Celebrating Mary child allows us to remember that she was also cared for before being a mother. Every maternity needs support, rest, health care and a community that does not judge easily.

The parish can accompany pregnancy, postpartum, adoption, infertility and gestational mourning with respect and without simplifications.

Mary and the parents

The protection and education of a child is not only for the mother. The party invites parents to take care, presence and co-responsibility.

Pastoral training can promote violence-free relationships and parenting models that are responsive to the real needs of children.

Mary and the childless

A community should not identify adult value with maternity or paternity. Single, consecrated, infertile or childless persons for different reasons participate fully in ecclesial life.

Christian fertility includes teaching, friendship, service, creation and care in many ways.

8 September and peace

St. John Paul II's prayer for this feast calls for unity and peace before a humanity divided by hatred and war.

On the Korean peninsula, this intention takes on a particular depth. To pray for peace also means to seek truth, encounter and protection from those who suffer division.

A party for the sick

John Paul II presented the Nativity of Mary as an invitation to hope for the sick. Mary is close with sister tenderness and mother's request.

Hope does not replace treatment or promise healing. It holds dignity, fights isolation and encourages competent care.

A party for new families

The Pontiff himself invited the newlyweds to welcome Mary at home, both in joy and in trial.

The parish can accompany marriages and families without idealizing them: dialogue, economy, care, mental health and safe conflict resolution need concrete support.

Relationship with the Rosary

The Nativity of Mary is not an explicit part of the twenty mysteries of the Rosary. However, it prepares the joyful mysteries and can be seen as a prologue of the Incarnation.

A ten-fold prayer by children and their caregivers connects the party with daily prayer without altering the structure of the Rosary.

verified location for the map

The episcopal directory and the parish agree on 419 Ilsan-ro, Jeongbal-nong, Illan-gu, Goyan. Mapping by name and address returns 37.6720995, 126.7793589.

The point corresponds to the church enclosure, not to the top of Mount Jeongbalsan or to the metro station.

Identification without ambiguity

The name of the Korean language is "-" and the episcopal code "201000302. The parish belongs to Uijeongbu although its civil address is in Goyang.

These references avoid confusing it with other Marian churches in Ilsan or with communities around the station.

Para visitr with reject

Jeongbalsan is an active parish. The hours must be confirmed by their official channels. During the liturgy you must remain silent and ask for permission before photographing people or children's activities.

The patron party is held around September 8, but any specific program can vary every year.

A prayer proposal

One ten can be offered for each child born in difficult circumstances, one for those who expect adoption, another for health professionals and educators, and another for peace between the two Koreas.

The joy of Nativity thus becomes responsibility: to receive, protect, educate and let grow.

Prayer to the Nativity of Mary of Jeongbalsan

Mary girl, aurora who announces Christ, keeps the parish of Jeongbalsan and the families of Ilsan. It protects children, accompanies those who care for them and returns hope to the homes that are in pain. Teach us to receive every life with responsibility, to build open communities and to work for peace in Korea. May your birth lead us always to the sun of righteousness, Jesus Christ. Amen.
