What celebrates the Nativity of Mary
On September 8, the Church celebrates the birth of the Mother of Jesus. The Canon Gospels do not narrate the circumstances of that birth; therefore, they do not present themselves as historical facts names, places or details only from later traditions.
The feast contemplates the silent arrival of a child whose life will be linked to the incarnation of the Son of God. A story that reaches all mankind begins in the small.
The logic of the small
Pope Francis explained at this feast that God does great works through small realities. Mary is born without power or notoriety, within a specific family history.
This look helps to value the child, the sick, the elderly and the socially insignificant. No life is expendable before God.
A memory oriented towards Christ
St. John Paul II presented the birth of Mary as a aurora near the coming of the Saviour. Devotion does not stop in it: it leads to Christ.
The community honors its patron when it hears the Gospel, celebrates the liturgy and transforms prayer into service.
Ogeum-dong before being parishioner
The Korean Catholic Encyclopedia explains that the community was initially a station dependent on Sincheon-dong. Urban development linked to the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games increased the population and number of faithful.
El 13 October 1989 the station was separated from Sincheon-dong and raised to parish, receiving 2,650 faithful.
Building a house for the community
Priestly residence was completed in August 1993. In December, the church hall was disassembled and the community temporarily moved to a commercial place.
The works of the temple began on December 26, 1993. After two years and nine months, the new church was dedicated to 8 September 1996at the feast of his Patron, by Cardinal Stephen Kim Sou@-@ hwan.
A parish in contemporary Seoul
Ogeum-dong grew up with new neighborhoods, schools, transport and Olympic facilities. His history shows how the Church accompanies not only ancient villages, but also rapidly changing cities.
The Nativity of Mary recalls that every urban growth must protect daily life: decent housing, neighbourhood links, education and care spaces.
Care for the elderly
The parish opened a university for the elderly in June 1998. This initiative recognized that older persons are not passive recipients, but bear memory and experience.
A faithful devotion to Mary's childhood is one of generations: it protects children and listens to those who have lived a long life.
Music and community life
History documents a parish concert held in September 1998 to strengthen coexistence. Art and music can help bring together people of different ages and circumstances.
Christian beauty is not an empty spectacle: it opens up space for gratitude, comfort and communion.
School, youth and accompaniment
The presence of many educational institutions in the territory led to the establishment in 1999 of a group of teachers to link education and pastoral education.
The Christian accompaniment of young people must respect freedom, protect against abuse and help to discern without manipulation.
A pastoral seat, not a station
In 1998 Ogeum-dong became a focal point within the district. This data explains the current brand of the directory and avoids misreading.
Today the Episcopal Conference records three priests, 8,950 faithful, the presence of the Olivetana Benedictines and no dependent station.
Current data and visit
Administrative figures may change. The published parish phone is 02-408-5501 and the directory links the official community website.
Time and accessibility should be confirmed directly before moving, especially in solemnities.
The dignity of each birth
To celebrate the birth of Mary leads to the protection of all children, to accompany difficult pregnancies without coercion and to support vulnerable families.
It also requires the prevention of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, using professionals and authorities when there is danger.
Hospitality in a changing neighborhood
Large cities receive new neighbours, migrants and people living alone. A parish born of urban expansion can understand the uprooting.
To receive is not only to open a door, but to learn names, provide understandable information and create respectful help networks.
For the peace of Korea
Mary's childhood allows us to pray for all children on the peninsula, especially those suffering from poverty, family separation or lack of freedom.
The community can call for peace that does not hide injustice and reconciliation capable of protecting the little ones.

On September 8, the community recalls that its own temple was dedicated to the feast of the Patron, uniting building, history and advocation.
Prayer to the Nativity of Mary of Ogeum-dong
Mary, a girl born in the hope of Israel, accompanies the community of Ogeum@-@ dong. Save the children, enlighten educators and young people, comfort those who live alone and pay attention to the wisdom of the elderly. Teach us to discover the work of God in the small, to welcome every new neighbor and to build a peace that protects the dignity of every person in Korea. Amen.
