Marian devotion

The Catholic directories Good News and Love Catholic corroborate the identity of the temple. It does not appear as a place of apparitions or a sanctuary: it is a parish placed under this Marian advocation.
What celebrates the Assumption
The Solemnity of August 15 confesses that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was brought by God to glory in body and soul. It should not be confused with the Ascension of Jesus Christ: Christ ascends by his own power; Mary is assumed by the action of God.
The Assumption directs the look to the Risen Christ. What the Church contemplates fulfilled in Mary anticipates the promised hope for those who belong to her Son.
The dignity of the body
Francis has explained that the Assumption manifests the unity of the human person. The Christian faith does not despise the body or consider it a worthless wrapper.
This teaching calls for the care of the concrete life: food, rest, illness, disability, old age and mourning. Honoring Mary assumed requires respect for her own and other body.

Benedict XVI presented the Assumption as comfort and hope. Mary is not separated from those who pilgrim on earth; her glorification announces that God's love is stronger than death.
Whoever reaches Yeokchon- dong with a loss can pray without denying the pain. Christian hope does not eliminate tears, but it states that death does not have the last word.

The parish was officially founded 9 May 1974. This date places its birth during a phase of rapid urban transformation in Seoul.
The episcopal source does not publish any more details about its creation. That is why no names, previous buildings or parish divisions are attributed that have not been verified.
Yeokchon-nong y Eunpye
Yeokchon-dong belongs to Eunpyeong-gu, a district located to the northwest of the South Korean capital. It is an urban environment of housing, proximity trade, schools and daily displacements.
In this context, the advocation recalls that holiness does not depart from ordinary life. Mary came to glory after an existence made of listening, motherhood, work, service and fidelity.
August 15 in Korea
The solemnity of the Assumption coincides in South Korea with the Day of Liberation. The coincidence calls for special caution in praying for the freedom, peace and reconciliation of the peninsula.
It is not said that this coincidence explains the choice of parish patronage. They are two different celebrations that share a date and can be found in prayer for the dignity of each people.
A hope that compromises
To look at Mary glorified is not to flee the problems of the earth. His Magnificat praises the God who raises the humble and remembers his mercy.
A community dedicated to the Assumption is called to accompany the sick, the elderly, the single people and families in mourning. Hope becomes credible when it takes the form of care.
