Marian devotion

An official Marian dedication
The Episcopal Conference of Korea records MatureOur Lady of the Dolores, as patron of Jangyu- Daecheong. The same source confirms the date of foundation, the diocese and the direction.
The patronage belongs to the parish identity; it is not an added title to interpret a sculpture or a local circumstance.
Mary by the Cross
The Gospel of John presents the Mother of Jesus standing next to the Cross. He cannot stop violence or prevent the death of his Son, but he remains present.
The devotion to Our Lady of the Dolores contemplates that fidelity. Mary does not take the place of Christ or add anything to his Redemption; she accompanies the Redeemer and receives a new motherhood to the disciples.
Pain without despair
The Christian faith does not glorify suffering and does not require avoidable abuses. Jesus cures, comforts and denounces the hardness of heart. Mary accompanies pain, but does not make it a good in itself.
Paschal hope allows you to look at the wounds without denying their gravity. The duel needs time, truth, support and, where appropriate, medical or psychological help.
Mary's seven pains
The tradition gathers seven episodes to meditate: the prophecy of Simeon, the flight to Egypt, the loss of Jesus in Jerusalem, the encounter of Calvary, the Crucifixion, the descent of the Cross and the burial.
This sequence goes through fear, migration, loss, violence, death and mourning. Each pain can become prayer for people who live today similar experiences.
The sword announced by Simeon
In the temple, Simeon announces that a sword will cross Mary's soul. Prophecy links his motherhood to the mission of Christ and to the contradiction he will find.
For families, remember that loving does not grant full control over children's lives. Accompanying includes respecting freedom, facing uncertainty and asking for help when a situation exceeds its own forces.
The Escape to Egypt
The Holy Family is fleeing the threat of Herod. This pain reminds refugees, migrants and families who leave their homes to protect life.
A Marian parish must promote legal and dignified reception, avoiding widespread suspicion and listening to the real needs of each family.
The loss and search
Mary and Joseph seek Jesus for three days. The anguish of not knowing where a loved one is is is recognizable to many families.
Prayer may accompany searches and disappearances, but it never replaces a rapid response, complaint, professional coordination and child protection.
Calvary Road
Tradition contemplates the encounter between Mother and Son on the way to the Cross. It does not take many words: sharing the look can be a deep form of company.
In the face of other people's pain, it is sometimes appropriate to listen rather than explain. Hastily pious bottles can hurt when they try to solve what needs to be cried.
Death, descent and burial
The last pains put Mary before the death of Jesus, her body delivered and the silence of the grave. Devotion offers a language for mourning without erasing the hope of the Resurrection.
The community can accompany with liturgy, presence, practical help and respect for the different ways of living loss.
A parish born with its temple
The work of the new complex began on 15 June 2005. The parish was canonically erected 10 January 2006while the building was in its final phase.
This sequence explains why the construction precedes the official date of foundation: the diocese prepared the space before formally forming the new community.
Dedication of 29 April 2006
The temple was dedicated by the bishop of Busan on April 29, 2006. The contemporary press places the celebration in the old direction of Sammun-ri, now integrated into the urban nomenclature of Gimhae.
The community thus had its own church a few months after its formal erection.
Architecture for liturgy and encounter
The building was built on a ground of 795.82 pyeong and a built area of 568.09 pyeong. It has an underground level and two floors on top of it.
The first floor brings together offices, large living room and meeting rooms; the second one contains the church, a room for families with young children and the sacristy.
A Marian garden on the deck
The chronicle of dedication points out that the roof incorporated a garden of Mary. This space offers a transition between the activity of the building and the quieter prayer.
A Marian garden is not a magical place. Beauty, silence and nature can help to contemplate, as long as space is safe and respectful.
Growing up inside a new city
Jangyu experienced rapid residential growth by integrating into the expansion of Gimhae and the metropolitan area linked to Busan and Changwon.
The new urbanizations bring together families from different places. A young parish helps to form links where there was only geographical proximity.
To receive those who come without hope
A reflection published from the parish described people who came to the temple without knowing who to turn to and families who were reunited by restarting their life of faith.
These pastoral testimonies should not become an automatic promise that any difficulty will be resolved. They show the value of a place where a person can be heard and not face his situation alone.
Grace is not a guarantee of immediate success
Christian prayer trusts God without imposing a concrete result. Accompanying someone demands to avoid blaming him if his illness, conflict or mourning continues.
Our Lady of the Dolores teaches precisely a fidelity that remains when there is no instant solution.
To welcome the transition to adolescence
In 2019, the parish organized a welcome for children to join the high school group. There were physical activities, shared food and dialogue with older young people.
The transition to adolescence can create insecurity. Creating prior relationships helps the newcomers find reference and belonging.
Protection and listening to children
Youth pastoral care must ensure safe environments, trained adults, supervision, complaints channels and respect for privacy. The affective reception never replaces clear protocols.
Mary, who sought Jesus with anguish, invites him to take the safety and voice of every child very seriously.
Music as community service
The parish maintains a choir to support the liturgy. Singing together demands listening, discipline and attention to the whole, virtues that also help build community.
Liturgical music serves prayer and should not become an exhibition or exclude those who have more fragile voices.
Mary and those who care
The invocation allows to remember family caregivers, health professionals, volunteers and those who accompany a duel. Many hold invisible burdens and need rest and support.
A ten of the Rosary can be offered by them, accompanied by concrete gestures: relief, food, transport, listening or information about resources.
verified location for the map
The Episcopal Conference places the temple in 82 Sammun-ro, Gimhae. The mapping search by the Korean name and the city returns 35.1921337, 128.8078338, a match to the compound.
The marker has not been located in the generic centre of Jangyu or in another temple of Daecheong-dong.
Do not confuse with similar names
Jangyu-Daecheong is not the Protestant church Jangyu Daeseong or other parishes of Gimhae. The Korean termination Church identifica aquí la iglesia católica.
Episcopal name, address, date and coordinates ensure correct identification.
To visit and pray
It's an active parish. It is appropriate to confirm hours, respect the celebration and ask for permission before photographing people, especially minors.
A dozen can be offered for those who are grieving, one for migrants and refugees, one for families looking for a loved one and another for adolescents and caregivers.
Prayer to Our Lady of the Dolores of Jangyu- Daecheong
Mary, Mother of the Dolores, guards the parish of Jangyu- Daecheong and the families of Gimhae. You who stood by the Cross, teach us not to abandon the suffering. He accompanies those who are grieving, migrants, young people and those who care without rest. Take us to the hope of the Risen Christ. Amen.
