A community founded in 1980
The Korean Episcopal Conference documents the erection of Daesa- dong on August 27, 1980. The parish belongs to the diocese of Daejeon and is attended with the collaboration of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres.
In October 2020, Bishop Lazzaro You Heung-sik presided over the Mass of the 40th anniversary, celebrated with the health measures required during the pandemic.
A million mysteries of the Rosary
The preparation of the anniversary lasted about a year. The faithful prayed a commemorative prayer, offered together a million mysteries of the Rosary and made a handwritten copy of the Old and New Testament.

In 2017, more than a hundred faithful of Daesa- dong formed a group to tour Catholic holy places in Korea and pray for the beatification and canonization of the venerable Father Thomas Choe Yangon-eop.
After visiting 167 sanctuaries and places of memory, the group formally concluded its journey in 2024 with a mass in Baeti, one of the pastoral centers associated with the priest.
Lourdes and the care of creation
The spirituality of Lourdes speaks of water, body, disease and conversion. Daesa-dong has also expressed a concrete environmental responsibility through a parish campaign for the collection and recycling of used batteries.
The gesture is modest, but it prevents polluting materials from reaching the ground and water. Christian conversion thus reaches the daily habits and care of the common house.

Our Lady of Lourdes is especially invoked by the sick. The Church does not face prayer with medicine: she asks for healing, accepts with faith the will of God and promotes responsible health care.
