La parroquia de Munsu- dongin Yeosu, is entrusted to Our Lady of Lourdes. Since 1988, this patronage has invited patients, caregivers and vulnerable people to be placed at the centre of community life.

A confirmed parish advocation

The Episcopal Conference of Korea records The Castle of LourdesOur Lady of Lourdes, as patron of Munsu@-@ dong. It also confirms direction, founding date and jurisdiction.

The tab does not attribute apparitions to Yeosu. This parish receives the apvocation originating in France and lives its spirituality in Korea.

A community since 1988

The parish was erected 20 January 1988. It is located in Yeosu, a coastal city of the current South Korean territorial organization.

The episcopal directory reflects a recent administrative name for the territory. The stable reference of this file is the city, Munsu-ro Street and the postal code.

The origin of Lourdes

In 1858 the Sanctuary of Lourdes placed the meetings of Bernadette Soubirous with the Lady in the Grotto of Massabielle. The young woman sent a call to prayer and penance.

The Church discerned events before recognizing the apparitions. The story belongs to Lourdes; Munsu@-@ dong participates in his devotion without moving the fact to Korea.

"I am the Immaculate Conception"

Bernadette reported that the Lady presented herself with this expression. The title refers to the grace of God who preserved Mary from original sin in attention to the merits of Christ.

It does not mean that Mary is a divinity or that she acts separate from Jesus. His whole life leads to the Saviour.

Sick in the middle

Lourdes is known for the presence of sick people and volunteers. The dignity of a person does not depend on receiving physical healing.

The Christian community is called to provide access, listen, company and sacraments, without promising results or blaming those who remain ill.

Discerning cures

The Catholic faith distinguishes between prayer for health and medical statements. A personal testimony needs evaluation before presenting itself as a recognized miracle.

This prudence protects the sick and families from false expectations, exploitation or neglect of necessary treatments.

Carers and volunteers

Lourdes makes visible the service of those who help to move, eat, wash or communicate. These discreet tasks support dignity.

In a coastal city, prayer may include fishermen, sailors, port workers and families exposed to risks and absences.
