Marian devotion
La parroquia de Nonsan-Bang-d, the first Catholic parish community in the city of Nonsan, has as its patron Our Lady of Lourdes. Its centenary history links Marian prayer with education, care for those suffering and service to local society.

From Nolmoe's mission to the first parish of Nonsan
The community began in 1909 as a mission station of Nolmoe, dependent on the parish of Nabawi. In June 1921 he was raised to parish under the name Nonsan. When another parish was created in the city centre in 1975, it was renamed Buchang-dong and later adopted the current name of Nonsana-Buchang-dong.
This succession of names explains why ancient sources can talk about Nolmoe, Nonsan or Buchang-dong. They are not three different sanctuaries, but historical stages of the same community.
A church under the sign of Lourdes
The present temple was projected during the 1950s and dedicated in 1961. The property documentation attributes the design to the French architect Lucien Burn, with the participation of the Korean architect Lee Hee- tae.
Inside are the windows made by the French artist Antoine Béchac, which represent the apparition of the Virgin to Saint Bernardite in Lourdes. Thus, patronage is not reduced to the name: it is a visible part of the architecture and catechesis of the temple.
The whole was recognized in 2022 as a local cultural heritage of Nonsan. Its value is born from both architecture and the religious and social memory preserved for more than a century.
The Mother who leads to Christ
