Marian devotion
The parish of Geomdan-dong, in Incheon, is entrusted to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel. It was founded on 18 July 2000 from the ancient missionary station of Geumgok.

From missionary station to parish
The diocese of Incheon explains that Geomdan-dong separated from Oryu-dong in July 2000 and initially used Geumgok's former mission as its headquarters. Atendia Maheon-dong, Dangha-dong, Daegok-dong, Geumgok-dong and part of Wanggil-dong.
In July 2002 the community moved to the current ground and in March 2003 it welcomed the dedication of the new church. In 2004 part of its territory was separated to form Majeon-dong.
El patronazgo carmelita
The official Korean formulation means "Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel." The title recalls the spiritual tradition born around Mount Carmelo and developed by the Carmelite family.
Mary is seen as a model of listening, prayer and fidelity to Christ. Devotion is not reduced to carrying an object: it leads to a life of faith, conversion and service.
El escapulario
The scapular of Carmen is a sign of spiritual belonging and subsidiary trust in Mary. It is not an amulet, nor does it automatically guarantee salvation without faith and Christian life.
John Paul II presented it as a permanent orientation towards Christ and a commitment to imitate Mary, especially in prayer and service.
A growing community
The diocesan record records about 3,600 faithful and describes nine pastoral sectors. These are data subject to update, but they show the consolidation of a community born at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
The subsequent creation of another parish in 2004 reflects the demographic and pastoral growth of the area of Geomdan.

The visit can be accompanied by 1 Kings 18, 41-45, Luke 2, 19 and a prayer for contemplative vocations and for those seeking inner silence.
