The address, telephone and diocese allow this parish to be distinguished from any other Korean place called Sinan. This file corresponds to Jinju, in the province of Gyeongsang del Sur.
Fundada en 1991
The official date of foundation is the 28 June 1991. Since then, the parish is part of the pastoral district of Jinju within the diocese of Masan.
The episcopal record records 4,447 faithful and no dependent station. These are administrative figures that are useful to approach the size of the community, although they can change with each update.
Una parroquia urbana de Jinju
Sinan-dong and the neighbouring areas of Pyeonggeo and Ihyeon are part of the western urban fabric of Jinju. The parish is located in Pyeonggeo-ro, a recognizable and accessible way within the city.
His advocation speaks of "perpetual" help: not a promise to avoid any difficulty, but the Christian certainty that Mary accompanies and leads Christ at every stage of life.
The Perpetual Relief icon
The traditional image belongs to the family of icons of the Virgin of Passion. Mary holds the Child, who looks back to the angels carrying the instruments of the cross.
The Mother's gesture does not stop the history of salvation. His hand presents Jesus and at the same time offers refuge to the Son who is fully entrusted to her.
The names written in the image
The Greek letters identify the Mother of God, Jesus Christ and the archangels Michael and Gabriel. They are not ornaments: they proclaim those who are represented and guide contemplation.
The archangel Michael carries the spear and the sponge; Gabriel presents the cross and the nails. The Passion appears early, but the golden background remembers the glory of the Resurrection.
The sandal that seems to come off
A child's sandal is held by a leash. The devotional tradition has seen in that detail the trembling of Jesus in the face of the announced suffering and his movement towards the arms of Mary.
It's a spiritual reading, not a dogmatic definition. It helps to recognize the true humanity of Christ, who knows fear and is freely given out of love.
From Crete to Rome
Tradition links the icon to Crete and documents its public veneration in Rome for centuries. After the destruction of the church of St. Matthew in 1798, the image was guarded by the Augustines.
In 1866 he was returned to public veneration in the church of San Alfonso, on the Merulana road. Pope Pius IX entrusted the redeemers with the mission of making it known throughout the world.
History and tradition, without confusing them
The studies carried out during modern restoration place wood between the 14th and 15th centuries, while some of the visible painting may correspond to a later intervention.
The accounts of the initial transfer from Crete contain traditional elements transmitted for centuries. The page presents them as tradition and reserves the category of fact for what is supported by historical documentation or material analysis.
Mary always leads to Jesus
The theological center of the icon is Christ. Mary holds it and shows it; her gaze is addressed to the faithful, as if she invited to recognize in the Child the source of all redemption.
Mary's "relief" is maternal and intercessor. It does not replace God or function as an independent power, but rather accompanies the Church and prays for her children.
Pattern of caregivers
In 1962, Saint John XXIII confirmed the Virgin of Perpetual Relief as the main patron of Spanish doctors. The letter highlights the charity, delicacy and dedication that requires the care of the sick.
This universal reference makes it possible to pray in Sinan- dong for doctors, nurses, family caregivers and anyone who accompanies other people's pain, without giving the parish a specific health ministry.
The Korean Martyrs Sisters
The official record records the presence of the Sisters of the Korean Martyrs. His name keeps alive the memory of the Christian testimony in Korea.
No current functions are detailed without direct confirmation. The registered presence recalls that Christian help is also expressed through consecrated life, prayer and persevering service.
verified location for the map
The episcopal direction is 141 Pyeonggee-ro, Jinju. The nominal mapping, contrasted with that direction, places the church in 35.1818971, 128.0690413.
The marker corresponds to the parish temple of Sinan-dong, not to the approximate center of the neighborhood or to a similar institution.
To visit and pray
The community appears active, but the schedules published on secondary pages may change. It is appropriate to confirm directly by phone before moving.
Before the icon you can present a concrete need and ask for the grace to also recognize the need of your neighbor. Devotion matures in works of patience, reconciliation and care.
