The confirmed patronage
The Episcopal Conference of Korea is a patron of 의The Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary. The diocese of Busan and the Catholic catalogue of art corroborate the identity of the temple and its direction.
The title is not only derived from the community's prayer of the Rosary: it is the officially recognized ecclesial patronage.
The Rosary contemplates Christ
St. John Paul II explained that the Rosary, although it has a markedly Marian form, is a prayer centered on Christ. His mysteries go through the incarnation, public life, passion and glory of the Lord.
Mary does not hold the believer's gaze. He preserves the Word, remembers the works of Jesus and helps to enter his school.
Word, silence and repetition
St. Paul VI recalled that the Rosary takes from the Gospel its mysteries and needs a contemplative heart. The repetition of the avemaria provides a rhythm, but it should not become automatic.
Proclaiming a brief biblical passage, keeping silent and presenting a concrete intention before every ten allows to unite vocal prayer with life.
Born from Jangyu-Daecheong
Yulha was erected the 12 January 2010, separated from the parish of Jangyu-Daecheong. The new community attended an area of Gimhae in rapid residential development.
The foundation did not begin from scratch: it received a pastoral heritage from the mother parish and at the same time had to organize its own groups, resources and spaces.
A temple projected from the beginning
The formal start of the project was held on 23 January 2010. After the review of the diocesan architectural commission, the main construction began on 30 November of the same year.
The sources properly distinguish the initial ceremony of January and the effective start of the works in November. They are not contradictory dates, but phases of the same process.
The community gathered the resources
The faithful went to eleven parishes to raise funds and sold products like onion juice. They also organized the Community market Eoullim during the parish day.
These actions combined funding and co-existence. The church was made possible through small, repeated contributions, voluntary work and help from sister communities.
The 2012 dedication
Bishop Paul Hwang Cheol- soo presided over the dedication of the new temple 8 April 2012. The celebration culminated in more than two years of organization and construction.
The dedication was not just the opening of a building. He entrusted space to the Eucharist, catechesis, prayer and community life in a stable way.
A three-storey building
The temple has about 1,059.8 square meters of total area built and 475.45 square meters of occupation. Combine reinforced concrete and steel structure.
The ground floor has offices, living room and kitchen; the second, the main place of worship; the third, choir, small children's room and meeting rooms.
Architecture for a family community
The distribution brings together celebration and daily life. The children & apos; s room facilitates the participation of families without making children a nuisance; the meeting rooms allow catechesis, training and small groups.
The kitchen and the living room remember that coexistence is also built around the table, always with care, inclusion and responsibility.
A particularly living Sunday school
A 2019 chronicle highlighted the high participation of children and adolescents in Yulha, in contrast to the overall decline in these ages in many Korean communities.
The parish attributed this vitality to pastoral support, the commitment of voluntary catechists and the participation of parents.
Catechists who share their talents
The catechists provided professional and personal skills to prepare attractive activities. In an area with few single students and young people, married educators abound.
This reality made catechesis a task of the entire parish family. It is not a question of entertaining without content, but of transmitting faith through relationships of trust.
The family mass
The chronicle documents family celebrations in which children and parents participated together. The liturgy remained in the center and the activities helped to prolong the coexistence.
The family is not idealized as a reality without difficulties. The community can accompany various structures and offer support when there is tiredness, conflict or loneliness.
Growing up also requires educational spaces
In 2018 the parish organized a day to raise funds for an educational building. The initiative shows that the dedication of the temple in 2012 did not end pastoral needs.
A living community reviews their spaces and adapts them without confusing material growth with spiritual success.
Rosary for all ages
The Rosary can bring older people, adults and children together if it is carefully adapted. A single ten prayed with attention can be more formative than a too long practice imposed without explanation.
The elderly transmit memory; the children remember that prayer also needs simplicity and confidence; the adults learn to listen to the rhythm of each generation.
The Rosary and Peace
The painful mysteries allow the wounds of the Korean peninsula to be brought before God; the glorious keep the hope of reconciliation alive.
To pray for peace also requires to verify the truth, avoid contempt, protect the victims and be willing to repair the damage.
verified location for the map
The episcopal direction is 19 Gwanng-ro 27beon-gil, in Gwandong-dong, Gimhae. The search for the Korean name of the temple places the church in 35.1780212, 128.8080197.
The point coincides with the building dedicated in 2012. It has not been placed in the generic centre of Yulha or in the homonymous district of Daegu.
No confundir Gimhae con Gimcheon
Yulha belongs to Gimhae, in South Gyeongsang and within the diocese of Busan. Gimcheon is another Korean city and houses the parish of Yulgok, published separately.
The similarity of latinized names can induce error; direction, jurisdiction and coordinates eliminate ambiguity.
To visit and pray
Yulha is an active parish. It is appropriate to consult current hours, remain silent during the cult and ask for permission before photographing people, especially minors.
One can be offered by catechists, families and children; another by those who helped build the church; and another by the peace and reconciliation of Korea.
Prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary of Yulha
Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary, guard the parish of Yulha and the families of Gimhae. Teach us to contemplate your Son, to listen to his Word and to turn it into service. Bless those who raised this church, strengthen catechists, parents and children, and intercede for reconciliation and peace in Korea. Amen.
