Marian devotion
La parroquia de Spineum-dong, one of the historical communities in northern Seoul, is entrusted to Our Lady of the Seven Dolores. Founded in 1944, her advocation contemplates Mary while remaining with Christ and with all those suffering.

From the mission of Mia@-@ ri to a parish
The immediate antecedent was a small community dependent on Hyehwa-dong, established in February 1942 in a house in Gireum-dong. On November 3, 1944, he was separated and raised to parish under the old name Mia-dong.
The community acquired the land of the temple, but the Korean war delayed construction. The works could begin on June 19, 1957 and the building was blessed on June 9, 1958 by Bishop Paul Ro Ki-nam. In 1982 it officially adopted the current name of Gireum-dong.
Mary and the seven pains
The Korean Expression Sex Mole literally means the seven pains of the Holy Mother. Devotion gathers seven evangelical scenes: the prophecy of Simeon, the flight to Egypt, the loss of Jesus, the encounter of Calvary, crucifixion, descent and burial.
It is not a question of telling suffering in a cold way. Each scene contemplates Mary's faithful union with her Son and her compassion for human pain. Simeon had told him that a sword would pass through his soul; at the foot of the cross, that fidelity reached its deepest expression.
A visible identity
The parish made the advocation its own sign. Its emblem, created in 2003, was expressly designed as a symbol of Our Lady of the Seven Dolores, as explained by the parish page dedicated to patronage.
This choice helps to recognize Gireum- dong among the many Catholic communities of Seoul and links his memory - including the years of war and reconstruction - to the persistent presence of Mary.
The pains of Mary and those of the city
A parish under this patronage is called not to turn away from disease, mourning, poverty, migration or loneliness. Mary does not magically eliminate suffering: she remains, accompanies and keeps the hope of the resurrection open.
The devotion of the Seven Dolores can thus become a school of closeness. He invites us to listen before we explain, to share the burden before we offer answers and to recognize the face of Christ in whom we go through a test.

To visit and pray
It is an active parish and headquarters of the pastoral district of Seongbuk. The hours should be confirmed before they come and respect silence, celebrations and community activities.
You can pray the Crown of the Seven Dolores, meditate Luke 2, 34-35 and John 19, 25-27, or entrust one to one the penalties of the families, the sick, the displaced and those who have lost a loved one.

He accompanies those who weep, he holds the families wounded and teaches us not to leave anyone at the foot of his cross.
