Queen of the Rosary: a confirmed title

The Episcopal Conference of Korea is a patron of About UsThe Queen of the Rosary. The official directory also confirms the founding date, the direction and the membership of the diocese of Chuncheon.

The title expresses Mary's maternal royalty at the service of her Son's Kingdom. It does not make the Virgin a sovereign separated from Christ, nor does it attribute an apparition to the parish.

Precision: Inje is not documented as a place of Marian apparition or as a sanctuary. Its relevance brings together parish patronage, post-war history and architectural value recognized by the State.

The Rosary contemplates the crucified King

St. John Paul II recalled that the Rosary is a Christological prayer. Mary guides the mysteries of the incarnation, ministry, passion and glory of Jesus.

The royalty of Christ is manifested in the service and in the surrender of the cross. To call Mary Queen of the Rosary means to contemplate her attached to that mystery, not to an image of worldly power.

An evangelical and contemplative prayer

St. Paul VI taught that the Rosary takes its content from the Gospel and needs a contemplative rhythm. Unattended repetition can be emptied; the Word, silence and intention return depth to every ten.

In Inje, painful mysteries acquire a particular resonance in the face of the ruins and losses of war, while the glorious maintain the hope of reconciliation.

Inje after armistice

The parish was founded 26 June 1954less than a year after the armistice of the Korean war. The urban core had been severely destroyed and barely retained usable buildings.

The new church was raised at one of the highest points of Inje-eup. His visible presence became a reference to the landscape, but his main sense was to offer a place of worship and community in a wounded population.

North of the 38 parallel

The public tourist documentation describes Inje as the first Catholic church established, after the war and with American help, in the north-western sector of Gangwon located north of the 38 parallel.

The expression is historical and geographical; it must not be confused with the current military border or used to give the parish jurisdiction over North Korea.

Build on a damaged foundation

The temple took advantage of the concrete foundations of a building whose upper part had been destroyed by the bombing. Instead of completely erasing the place, the reconstruction incorporated what could still support the new building.

This decision was practical in a time of scarcity and today allows to read the church as material testimony: a new structure is based on the injured memory of the previous one.

Temple and priestly house in one volume

A unique feature is the integration of the church and the priestly house within the same building. The heritage source considers this solution to be rare among contemporary Korean churches.

The form responds to specific post-war conditions: limited resources, need for accommodation and pastoral urgency. Its value does not depend on monumental, but on how it solved several functions with sobriety.

A small and bright architecture

The interior is described as simple and collected. The window behind the altar introduces light into the presbytery, while the stations of the path of the crucis allow the visual journey of the passion of Jesus.

Beauty here does not separate from history. The light crosses a building born among ruins and directs the look to the Eucharist and the Paschal mystery.

Registered National Cultural Heritage

The Korean Cultural Heritage Administration registered the church 14 February 2019. The record includes a building and an area of 525 square metres.

The official record identifies the Catholic foundation of the diocese of Chuncheon as the owner and administrator. The protection recognizes its historical and architectural interest; it does not alter its function as a living parish.

Store without turning the church into a museum

Property recognition requires care for materials and forms, but the building continues to be intended for prayer and community life. A visit must respect both dimensions.

Conservation also does not mean freezing any use. The necessary interventions must balance security, accessibility, liturgy and preservation under the relevant procedures.

A house for older women

The tourist documentation indicates that in 1986 the parish established a home for free for older women living alone. Religious of St. Paul of Chartres held a community of prayer and service.

This fact belongs to the documented history of the place. The current names, places and conditions may have changed and should therefore be verified directly before seeking attention.

The Queen who teaches how to serve

The work with older women reveals the Christian criterion of royalty: greatness is measured by the ability to care. Mary visits Isabel and remains attentive to the needs without occupying the center.

Decent service avoids treating the elderly as objects of charity. He recognizes his voice, his history, his decisions and the right to secure relations.

Civil and religious memory

In the church environment there are other religious and cultural places. The hill expresses a local plural history, in which different communities have colived and built their own references.

Inje's Catholic identity can be clearly affirmed without despising other traditions. The memory of war requires respect, dialogue and rejection of all dehumanization.

Pray for a divided peninsula

The historical proximity to the 38 parallel makes prayer for Korean reconciliation especially appropriate. The Rosary allows to present names, separate families, military, civilians and victims on both sides.

Prayer for peace does not legitimize propaganda or forget. It requires truth, protection of human rights, compassion for the victims and perseverance on meeting paths.

verified location for the map

The episcopal directory and the property register agree on 12 Inje-ro 225beon-gilInje-eup. The mapping search by the Korean name and Gangwon places the temple in 38.0717729, 128.1740325.

The marker corresponds to the protected building on the hill and not to the generic center of the county or to a military facility in the region.

Do not confuse Inje with Ketinje

A simple computer search can find "Inje" within "Cetinje," Montenegro City. There is no relationship between the two places.

This parish is Inje, South Korea, identified in Korean as & quot;, & quot; within Gangwon and the diocese of Chuncheon. Direction and coordinates eliminate any ambiguity.

Para visitr with reject

It is an active parish and a protected cultural good. It is appropriate to confirm hours, not to interrupt the celebrations, to follow the signs of conservation and to ask for permission before photographing persons or restricted spaces.

One can be offered for the victims of war, one for older women and their caregivers, and one for the reconciliation and peace of all Korea.

Prayer to the Queen of the Rosary of Inje

Mary, Queen of the Rosary, guards the parish of Inje. You who stood by the cross, comfort the wounds of war and support those who rebuild their lives. Bless the elderly and those who care for them; teach us to keep the memory without hatred and to serve with humility. It is committed to reconciliation and peace in Korea. Amen.
