Marian devotion
In Geumsan, the town of Chungcheong del Sur known for the cultivation of ginseng, a Catholic community founded in 1929 lives under the protection of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary. His Korean patron name, Maze of Rosario, expressly retains that Marian identity.

The directory of the Episcopal Conference of Korea records the parish of Geumsan, its date of foundation and the patronage of the Queen of the Rosary. In 2019, on the occasion of the ninety years of the community, the parish published a commemorative volume dedicated to its path of evangelization.
The local history of this work does not begin only with the formal constitution of the parish. He has his background on the arrival of Catholicism in the region of Geumsan and on the memory of the so-called Jinsan incident, linked to the first Korean martyrs. The present parish therefore belongs to a land of ancient and costly Christian roots.
The present temple and a community that prayed together
The current building was consecrated on April 14, 2002 by the bishop of Daejeon. The work had begun in March 2000 and lasted two years. Its architecture incorporates a cover inspired by the dove, a sign of the Holy Spirit, and seven beams arranged on the altar as a reference to the seven sacraments.
The construction was accompanied by an intense spiritual preparation: the faithful offered a million and a half tens of the Rosary, numerous hours of Eucharistic veneration and a chain of prayer sustained by families. The title of Queen of the Rosary was not reduced to the name of the temple, but took body in a shared work.

Calling Mary Queen of the Rosary recognizes her maternal mission to lead Christ. In the Rosary, the Church contemplates with her the mysteries of incarnation, public life, passion and glory of the Lord.
St. John Paul II taught that the Rosary, although it has a clearly Marian character, is a prayer centered on Christ. Mary does not stop the look in herself: she helps the believer to remember, contemplate and assimilate the Gospel.
Geumsan, work and prayer
Geumsan's economy is deeply linked to ginseng. A Catholic chronicle described how an important part of the parish families depended directly or indirectly on their cultivation and marketing. The agricultural stations even marked attendance at the celebrations.
The Rosary is especially adapted to this daily rate: it can be prayed in family, during displacements or at the end of the day. His serene repetition does not evade work; he has the heart to recognize God in a life made of patience, care and waiting.
