Marian devotion
La parroquia de Daegokin the south-western end of Daegu, is dedicated to Holy Mary, Mother of God. Founded in 1996, it accompanies a community between the neighborhoods of the large city and the territory of Hwawon.

The Mother of whom God is true
The title "Mother of God" confesses that Jesus, truly born of Mary, is the eternal Son of God made man. It does not claim that Mary is the origin of divinity; it protects the unity of the person of Christ.
The ancient Church expressed this faith with the Greek word Theotokos. The Council of Ephesus solemnly proclaimed it in 431, and the invocation remains in the Avemaría and the Solemnity of January 1.
A patronazgo católico inequívoco
The Korean Episcopal Conference identifies Daegok's patronage as Saint Mary. The expression means "Holy Mary, Mother of God" and belongs to the Catholic faith about Christ and his Mother.
It should not be confused with Korean religious movements that use similar expressions for teachings other than Catholic Christianity. In Daegok, the title refers exclusively to the Virgin Mary in the mystery of the Incarnation.
A parish born in 1996
Daegok was erected on 10 January 1996. The official directory places under your attention parts of Daegok-dong and Bonri-ri, in Hwawon@-@ eup, an area of contact between the urban fabric and the territory of Dalseong.
The community belongs to the third vicar of the Archdiocese of Daegu and has the collaboration of the Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. His patronage recalls that every parish life is born from the reception of Christ.

The archdiocese of Daegu has a deep-rooted Marian tradition. His diocesan sanctuary of Lourdes, built as a fulfillment of a vote of the first bishop, was blessed in 1918 and became a center of prayer for all of Korea.
Daegok is not that sanctuary and must not be confused with it. However, his dedication to the Mother of God is inserted into a local Church that has for generations entrusted his mission to the intercession of Mary.
Mary in everyday life
Divine motherhood is not an abstract idea. Mary took Jesus into her womb, gave him birth, looked after him and kept his words. The faith of Nazareth illuminates the silent work with which families support life.
A parish under this title is called to be home: to receive children, to accompany the sick, to train those who approach the faith and to prevent the elderly or alone from being forgotten.
The first day of the year
The Solemnity of St. Mary, Mother of God, is celebrated on January 1, 8th of Christmas. The Church begins the year by contemplating the Child in the arms of her Mother and asking for the gift of peace.
This date makes it possible to entrust the new year, the family decisions and the future of Korea. Mary teaches to keep events in her heart and to discern them in the light of God.

The first joyful mystery, the Annunciation, or the third, the Birth of Jesus can be prayed. It is also appropriate to entrust mothers, young families and those who start a new life in the city.
The invocation of the Avemaria sums up the spirituality of the place: "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the time of our death."
