The full official title
The Episcopal Conference of Korea records Mom and son as a patron of Dotong@-@ dong. The expression adds "Queen" to the usual title of Our Lady of Fatima and should be kept in full.
The official document also confirms the diocese, the direction and the date of the foundation. It documents a parish advocation; it does not claim that an apparition in Namwon has occurred.
A community founded in 1990
Dotong-dong was erected on 15 July 1990. The episcopal directory documents the collaboration of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Mirinae.
The presence of a congregation linked to the Heart of Mary harmonizes with a Fatima spirituality focused on prayer, repair and conversion.
The Portuguese origin of the title
The Shrine of Fatima places in Cova da Iria the apparitions of 1917 Lucía dos Santos, Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto. The Church examined events before recognizing visions as credible.
The parish of Namwon receives that universal devotion, but does not transfer Portuguese facts to Korea. The history of Fatima and the local history of Dotong-dong must remain differentiated.
A royalty of service
Mary is called Queen by her union with Jesus Christ, the king whose power is manifested in service and surrender. It is not a matter of political domination or a separate authority from his Son.
