Marian devotion
Triana's Hope
"La Reina de Triana" · Sevilla
Known as "the Queen of Triana," the Hope of Triana is one of the great Marian devotions of Seville, venerated in the Chapel of the Mariners and acclaimed in the Madrugada of Good Friday.

Origin and history
The root of the brotherhood dates back to 1418, when a brotherhood of light is founded in Triana with the title of Hope, in the Royal Parish of Santa Ana, linked to the guild of the ceramists; it is one of the oldest in Seville. Over the centuries it merged with the corporations of St. John the Evangelist and the Christ of the Three Falls, linked to the union of sailors.
After the earthquake of 1755, the brotherhood traveled through several places until the building of its own chapel, the Chapel of the Mariners, in the 19th century. His penance station in the Madrugada of Good Friday is one of the most fervent moments of the Sepvilan Holy Week. It was crowned canonically by the bull of John Paul II on June 2, 1984.
