In 1648, in Lyon, the image of the Virgin appeared on a wall of the church of San Lorenzo. The faithful interpreted it as a sign of the presence of the Virgin.
Tradition tells that the Virgin of Wonders protected Lyon from the epidemics that ravaged Europe. The Lyonians prayed to him and the plague ceased.
Today, the church of San Lorenzo is a place of pilgrimage where the faithful will pray before the image.
The Virgin of Wonders brings comfort in times of epidemic.
