On January 17, 1871, during the French-Prussian war, five children from Pontmain saw the Virgin in heaven. The Virgin was dressed in blue with gold stars and an embroidery mantle.
Apparition lasted an hour. The children sang hymns as the Prussians approached. When the Virgin disappeared, the Prussians could not enter the village.
The Bishop of Laval approved the Apparition in 1872.
The Virgin stopped the armies with her presence alone.
