Where is he?
The Grotto of Mary Queen of Peace is in Amanfoso-Nsoatre, in the region of Bono, Ghana, within the Catholic diocese of Sunyani. OpenStreetMap places the town of Nsoatre at 7,4031, -2,4685. The coordinate allows to locate the population and the pilgrimage area, but does not claim to be the exact GPS of the grotto.
Documented history
The Diocese of Sunyani documented on its official page "Grotto 2026" the diocesan annual pilgrimage and the celebrations of the Assumption held from 13 to 16 August 2026 in the Grotto of Mary Queen of Peace, Amanfoso-Nsoatre. The same page identifies the place as Nsoator-Amanposo and preserves news, photographs and chronicles of the celebrations.
The diocese describes a four-day pilgrimage with the participation of traditional authorities, priests and religious, parish groups, youth, Catholic, non-Catholic and pilgrims from the neighbouring Ivory Coast. The opening mass was accompanied by night prayer and the final celebration brought together many faithful. These are documented pastoral life data, not a test of apparitions or miracles.
Tradition and Legend
The sources consulted speak of the grotto as a place of prayer, liturgy and pilgrimage. They do not bring an approved local Marian apparition or a recognized miracle. This fact sheet therefore does not attribute messages, cures or supernatural facts to the place.
Ecclesial State
It contains public Catholic use and diocesan organization of the pilgrimage in the grotto. It indicates "permitted veneration" in the sense of Marian pastoral veneration documented by the diocese. The sources consulted do not contain a pronunciation on the apparition or supernatural miracles of Amanfoso-Nsoatre.
Anecdotes and stories
The 2026 edition took the theme "The Year of the Youth: Youth, Empowered and Sent; Mary Our Model." At the closing Mass, Bishop Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi announced that 2027 would be observed in the diocese as the Year of Youth. The chronicle presents the pilgrimage as a time of prayer, formation and Christian responsibility in the family, the Church and society.
