El obispo Zumárraga no creía a Juan Diego. Le dijo: «Vuelve y pídele una señal.» La Virgen le prometió una señal: las rosas de Castilla. Cuando Juan Diego abrió la tilma, el obispo vio la imagen de la Virgen y se arrodilló llorando. Desde entonces, dedicó su vida a difundir la devoción guadalupana.
