After the apparitions of Guadalupe, 9 million indigenous people converted to Christianity.

Before the apparitions, the missionaries had very little success with the conversion of the indigenous. But when the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego, an indigenous, everything changed. In the following years, 9 million indigenous people were baptized. The Virgin had chosen to speak in nahuatl, the language of the indigenous, and to appear with brown skin, like them.
