Marian devotion
Where is he?
Iveron's Hawaiian icon is linked to the Orthodox community Holy Theotokos of Iveron, in Hawaii. The official parish page gives direction 201 North Kainalu Drive, Kailua, on the island of Oahu, and explains the devotional history of icons venerated by that community. The research report relates to Honolulu because it is the best known urban reference, but the published address corresponds to Kailua; therefore the tab names the place as Kailua and does not claim that the icon is in the center of Honolulu.
The map uses 21.3936, -157.7438, OpenStreetMap / Nominatim coordinate for the town of Kailua, ratio 119236. The precision is locality. The official page also incorporates a geodate that does not match Kailua's address; that discording point is not chosen as a temple GPS. As long as there is no consistent headquarters geometry, the locality is the most prudent way to place the element.
Documented history
The official page of the parish states that two icons of his community began to exudar myrrh and that the phenomenon was made known within the Orthodox Church. In the case of Iveron's Hawaiian icon, the same page states that it began to manifest in October 2007. The existence of the community, the icon and its veneration is a fact documented by the parish itself; the supernatural nature of the phenomenon belongs to the religious interpretation of that Church.
The source indicates that in June 2008 the icon was recognized by the Russian Orthodox Church as miraculous and worthy of veneration. He also claims that his custodian was commissioned to take care of the image and facilitate his visit to Orthodox churches and monasteries. This document retains these data as part of the documented Orthodox history, not as an approval of the Catholic Church or as a scientific certification of the observed substance.
The devotion was extended through the travel of the icon to different Orthodox communities. The parish page says he was taken to numerous temples and many people came to venerate him. It is a history of the circulation of an image within a concrete ecclesial network. It should not be confused with a personal Marian apparition, nor with a Catholic advocation approved by a diocesan bishop.
Tradition and limits
For the Orthodox faithful, the myrrh and perfume associated with the icon are signs of God's grace and reason to ask for the intercession of the Mother of God. The parish page contains testimonies of healing and favors attributed to prayer before the icon. They are presented here as testimonies and community tradition, not as proven medical facts one by one. No names of patients, diagnoses or miracles are added that the source consulted does not document independently.
The reference to the Russian Orthodox Church is important: the status of the tab is other _ church. The Orthodox veneration of an icon is not a statement of the Catholic Church. In the Christian faith, Mary is venerated and asked to intercede before Jesus Christ; worship corresponds only to God. This distinction makes it possible to explain the phenomenon with respect without giving it a recognition that does not exist.
The icon and community of Hawaii
The parish page highlights that the community is dedicated to the original Iveron icon and that the Hawaiian icon belongs to that memory of the Theotokos. The place lives devotion in a local context: a small parish on a Pacific island, with celebrations, prayer requests and visitor reception. The fact sheet does not turn every pastoral activity into proof of a prodigy; it describes it as the concrete way in which the community retains its tradition.
The discrepancy between the published direction and the embedded geodate forces to maintain the accuracy of the locality. If the parish later publishes an unequivocal coordinate of the building, the point can be replaced in a later return with its new source. Until then, the map points to Kailua and does not invent the icon GPS.
Ecclesial State
The state indicated is other _ church. The official Orthodox source affirms a recognition by the Russian Orthodox Church in June 2008 as a miraculous and venerative icon. There is no Catholic approval here; therefore it is not used. aprobada nor is the phenomenon presented as a judgment of the Catholic Church. The date is kept with month accuracy, because the source does not provide a specific day.
Anecdotes and stories
The history of the icon is linked to the travel: the official page tells that it was taken to many Orthodox churches and monasteries for the veneration of the faithful. An image born in a small community of Hawaii ended up being known to believers from different countries. This expansion explains the name "Hawaiian" and at the same time makes it necessary not to confuse the place of origin of devotion with each place that received the icon temporarily.
The community also retains the memory of the cross associated with devotion, which remains in Hawaii although the icon travels. This data belongs to the narrative of the parish and is included as part of its own memory, not as an independent statement about relics or miracles.
Prayer
Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus, intercedes before the Lord for the Orthodox community of Kailua, for those who approach the Iveron icon and for all the sick and afflicted. Give us a humble heart, love for the truth and respect for those who seek God in different Christian traditions. Amen.
