Marian devotion
Immaculate Conception
Belize pattern or local coronation
Recognized by the Church
The Immaculate Conception is one of the most widespread Marian devotions in the Caribbean and Central America, including Belize, especially in circles influenced by European religious orders (Jesuits, Redemptorists) who promoted the dogma defined in 1854. Its introduction to Belize was the work of Catholic missionaries in the 19th and 20th centuries, within the framework of catechesis on Marian doctrine and the recitation of the rosary. No accounts have been found of the discovery of an image or a founding miracle in Belizean territory.

The image and the sanctuary
In various parish listings, rural communities and chapels ("outstations") appear under the title of Immaculate Conception in mestizo and Mayan areas; many lack their own page with detailed history, so an exhaustive list is not available.
Sponsorship and coronation
A universal devotion fully recognized by the Church. There is no record of the Immaculate Conception being specifically recognized as the principal patron saint of Belize, nor of a local coronation.
Party and devotion
The feast is celebrated on December 8th, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. In parishes dedicated to this saint, a novena, solemn rosary, and procession are typically held. Parish records document accounts of protection during hurricanes and illnesses, offered through simple votive offerings (candles, flowers, photographs), though no officially recognized miracles have been attributed to her.
Link to the Rosary
The Immaculate Conception, preserved from sin from her conception, is contemplated in the Rosary as full of grace. In the mestizo and Mayan communities of Belize, the solemn rosary around December 8 unites families in praise of the most pure Mother.
