🌹 Wonders and anecdotes

• La parroquia existió antes que el edificio: los sacerdotes celebraban la Misa en casas de feligreses y en la sala del St Joseph’s Convent School, hasta que la guerra mundial y la ocupación japonesa retrasaron más de una década la construcción del templo.
• The church was raised in 1953 thanks to the commitment of Father Michel Bonamy, then Vicar General and parish priest of the cathedral, and was blessed on 13 December 1953 by Monsignor Lucas, papal delegate for Malaysia and Singapore; his first parish priest was Father Moses Koh, who served until 1971.
• With the growth of the felligresy, wings were added to the temple in 1992, and in 1999 the parish assembly approved to build a new church specifically asking to preserve its village spirit ("kampong"), without high buildings: only the bell tower rises above the whole.
• The parish, located at the 24th of Highland Road, today brings together about six thousand faithful, within a Singaporean Church whose cathedral is dedicated to the Good Shepherd and which has other historical Marian shrines, such as Our Lady of Lourdes and the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin.
