The Virgin and the martyrs of Nagasaki
Nagasaki, Japan
The 26 martyrs of Nagasaki saw the Virgin before she died.
The Japanese Catholics interpreted that voice as that of the Virgin Mary, who interceded for her children. The martyrs died singing hymns.
Today, Nagasaki is a sanctuary of peace and memory. The faithful go there to pray for peace in the world.
