After the atomic bomb of 1945, the Christians of Hiroshima prayed to the image of the Virgin of Peace. Tradition tells that the Virgin protected those who survived.
A priest said that, in full destruction, he saw a light on a church that was not destroyed. The faithful interpreted this as the presence of the Virgin.
Today, the Virgin of Peace is a symbol of hope for those who have suffered the war.
