The Catholic parish of Bergen is one of the oldest faith communities in Norway. Founded in the 19th century, the parish has served the Catholics of the region for generations.
Our Lady of the Fjords
The Virgin of the Fjords is a wooden carving depicting the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus, surrounded by fjords and mountains. Tradition says that the Virgin appeared to a fisherman from Bergen during a terrible storm in the fjords.

Local anecdotes
The people of Bergen recount that during World War II, parishioners gathered to pray the Rosary before the image of Our Lady of the Fjords. Despite the German occupation, the church remained undamaged, a fact the faithful attributed to the protection of the Virgin Mary.
