San Charbel (1828-1898) was a Maronite monk who lived in the monastery of Annaya in the mountains of Lebanon. He is the most popular saint in Lebanon and the entire Christian East.
The devotion of Saint Charbel to the Virgin
Saint Charbel spent hours praying the Rosary before the image of the Virgin Mary. Tradition tells that the Virgin appeared to him several times to comfort him in his solitude.
After his death, his body remained incorrupted for decades. The faithful believe that the Virgin Mary protected him as a reward for his devotion.
Today, the shrine of Saint Charbel in Annaya receives millions of pilgrims from all over the world. Many claim to have received miracles by intercession from Saint Charbel and the Virgin Mary.
