Parish of the Immaculate Conception of Mamou
In Mamou, the city of Middle Guinea at the gates of the Futa Yalon massif, the Catholic Church has been present since 1946 with the parish of the Immaculate Conception, belonging to the Archdiocese of Conakry. It is a small Christian community that keeps the faith on under the protection of the Virgin without blemish.
🌹 Wonders and anecdotes
- The parish was founded in 1946 and is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception: in the heart of Guinea, the Virgin Mary gives name and shelter to the Catholic community of Mamou for eight decades.
- It belongs to the decanate of the Futa (Doyenné du Fouta) of the archdiocese of Conakry, next to the parishes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel of Labé, San Francisco of Assis of Pita and San Miguel of Dalaba: two of the four parishes of the decanate are Marian.
- The archdiocese of Conakry, to which Mamou belongs, is governed by Mons. Vincent Coulibaly, from the capital to the prefectures of the interior, including Mamou, Dalaba, Pita and Labé.
- To be Catholic in the Futa is to live faith in a small flock: the parish of the Immaculate sustains the faithful of Mamou as a minority and perseverant community, entrusted to it that crushed the head of the serpent.

Since 1946, the parish of the Immaculate Conception has brought together the Catholics of Mamou in Middle Guinea. Small and persistent, this community of the Futa decanate lives under the eyes of the Immaculate Virgin, along with her sisters from Labé, Pita and Dalaba.
