Origin and history
According to tradition, on April 6, 1450, a player, collided when he lost, threw the ball against an image of the Virgin painted under an arch of an old aqueduct; from the cheek of Mary sprout blood. The prodigy gave rise to one of the most crowded shrines in Campania, which conserves about 8,000 exvotes.
Party and devotion
Every Easter Monday, thousands of "fujenti," barefoot and white dresses with red and blue ribbons, go in procession to the Madonna dell'Arco.
