Where is he?
The Madonna del Frassino Sanctuary is located in Peschiera del Garda, Verona province (Veneto, Italy). The place is located in the town of Frassino and belongs to the set of Marian shrines in the area of Lake Garda.
Documented history
The sanctuary and its ancient cult are documented. The constructive tradition places the building of the sanctuary between 1511 and 1514; the Italian catalogue of cultural goods identifies the Madonna del Frassino Sanctuary as a monumental building of Peschiera del Garda.
Tradition
Tradition tells that on May 11, 1510 Bartolomeo Broglia, threatened by a snake while working, invoked Mary and found a small image on a strawberry. The image was linked to the place and the sanctuary.
Legend
Mary's visible intervention against the serpent and other details of the finding belong to the devotional account. There is no contemporary record of the event that allows it to be presented as a documented history in all its details.
Ecclesial State
They contain the Catholic sanctuary, its public veneration and Franciscan attention. There is no formal decree on the supernatural of the apparition; therefore no more precise ecclesial approval is assigned.
Anecdotes and stories
The devotion retains a statuette of about 14 centimeters linked to the trunk of the original strawberry, according to the tradition of the sanctuary.

Documented extension
The Italian catalogue of cultural goods describes the monumental ensemble as a church with an added Franciscan chapel and convent of double cloister, located in Via Frassino, 5, in Peschiera del Garda. The property sheet dates it as a set built and transformed between 1511 and 1969 and includes it under the supervision of the Italian administration of cultural property. This documentation confirms the material continuity of the sanctuary and its architecture; it does not in itself make the story of the 1510 finding a proven supernatural fact.
The official site of the sanctuary also identifies the pastoral direction of Località Frassino, in Peschiera del Garda. The difference between pastoral and patrimonial direction does not involve two different places: both sources point to the Madonna del Frassino complex in Peschiera. The veneration of the small image and prayer of the pilgrims are presented here as a Catholic Marian cult, always addressed to God and entrusted to the intercession of Mary.
