Origin and history
Según la tradición georgiana, el manto de la Madre de Dios fue traído a Georgia y se venera en la catedral de Svetitskhoveli («la columna que da vida»), en Mtskheta, iglesia madre del país. Georgia conserva además importante iconografía mariana, como el icono de Tsilkani (s. XII), variante de la Hodegetria atribuida a san Lucas.
