In the Plana de Vic, a great sanctuary guards the Mare de Déu de la Gleva; tradition tells that a pastor found her image while grazing in the Puig del Terrer.
Origin and history
The Mare de Déu de la Gleva shrine, at the same time Marian and parish sanctuary, is one of the most visited in the region of Osona. The works of the great sanctuary began in 1327, expanding an early medieval oratory. The tradition refers that a Pastor of the Mas Codines found the image of the Virgin as she pastored at the Puig del Terrer.
The Mare de Déu de la Gleva enjoys a strong communal identity as a devotion of the Plana de Vic, with romanias and a great influx of faithful. The accessible sources do not collect a canonical coronation.
