Origin and history
The sanctuary of the Misericòrdia is raised in the "Puig homónimo," over Vinaròs; the existence of a hermitage in the place is already documented in the 15th century, with successive renovations in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is the main center of the Marian devotion of the city.
The Mare de Déu de la Misericòrdia is the patron of Vinaròs, and its main feast is held around Pentecost (last Sunday of May), with Romeria to the sanctuary.
