Mare de Déu de Lluc

Patrona de Mallorca

The legend places the image finding at 1250 by a child named Lluc, who would name the place; according to the story, the image remained prodigious in the place where it was found. Historically, the documented thing is that the sanctuary of Lluc is a center of pilgrimage of medieval root and that devotion is firmly settled in Majorca since ancient times. It is therefore appropriate to distinguish the tradition of finding by the child Lluc from what the sources document, which is the antiquity and continuity of the sanctuary as a place of pilgrimage.
